Tipsy Tuesday: Make Your Own Swiffer Refills

Casey@EcOnomical Mom is hosting Tipsy Tuesday where her readers share their own tips on various .  Her blog is filled with great green tips and I love it!

This week I am sharing a tip on making your own swiffer refills ~.
I love my Swiffer!  It certainly makes my housework so much easier.  Who has time & energy to vacuum everyday.  I don't, especially with my huge & noisy vacuum cleaner....

But what I don't love about Swiffer is that the refills are so expensive & wasteful.

So I started making my own Swiffer refills out of old cloths like flannels (e.g., pajamas, shirts), jerseys (e.g., T-shirts) & fleece.

What I do is just cut old cloths (Take out all the bottons & emblishments - I keep them for my craft projects :)) using regular Swiffer refill as a pattern.  So easy, isn't it?

You can certainly make them out of new fabrics (look for fabric remnants on sale - I love microfiber fabrics for this purpose).

These refills are also versatile unlike the regular refills, because they be used both dry and wet. To use as wet refills, I just wet & spray with muti-purpose cleaner.

If I am using really old cloths, I just throw them away after two uses (front & back), but otherwise, I wash and reuse them.

Now..., I also love my Swiffer Duster, but have not come up with easy & cheap substitutes for Swiffer Duster refills.  Anyone? I would love to hear from you.
